Heading to the Bay Area, we had to pause for photos in Dixon- the Sunflower Capital of California.

After dropping Robby and Chandler off at their apartments and checking into our hotel, we headed directly to Chinatown, the largest Chinatown outside of Asia as well as the oldest one in North America.





The kids met us for a tasty dinner and we said Zàijiàn (goodbye) and headed to the theater.
Wanting to do as much as we could in our limited time, we purchased 'same day' tickets for the amazing play, City of Angels. Set in Los Angeles in the late 1940s, this play tells the story of a novelist struggling to turn his hard-boiled detective novel into a movie. Weaving together the novelist's actual life with the story of his fictional P.I. hero, the San Francisco Playhouse's production is a stylish nod to the golden age of Hollywood and film noir, where the colorful real world collides with the black-and-white "reel" world. The winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, this show was co-written by Broadway legend Cy Coleman and "M*A*S*H" creator Larry Gelbart.

We were beyond impressed with the quality of the production, the authenticity of the costuming, the talent of the actors, the ingenuity of the set and the historic setting (1925). It was the ideal play for us to see in San Francisco. Four thumbs up!
