Folly Beach: Books, Movies & More
The motto for this fabulous beach community is, "Come visit us at 'The Edge of America' ... you'll love life on the edge." After a long day here, we do love life on the edge!
Folly Beach is one of America’s last true beach towns. Just minutes from historic downtown Charleston, Folly Beach is a 12 square mile barrier island that is packed with things to do, see and eat. This is a funky, laid-back, come-as-you-are kind of beach. The pace is invitingly slow, the people are captivatingly unique and the shops and restaurants will receive you with good old fashioned southern charm and hospitality. It won’t take long for you to feel right at home. How can you not love a town whose history is a story of pirates, shipwrecks, soldiers, and dancing.? It is a story of the hardships and hurricanes that have shaped a thriving beachside community. There exists a certain joie de vivre that is rather intoxicating.
The reason we chose today to be at Folly was because this unique trailer was going to be at the Farmer's Market. Back in Asheville, I met the author, M.J. Pullen and wanted to read the first book in her series, which the bookstore did not have in stock. So I found an independent bookstore which would bring me her novel.
Itinerant Literate Books, a pop-up bookshop and custom book event designer which has expanded into this "bookmobile", is my dream space... a vintage trailer and books! Wowzer.
Deb and Nick met us for a delicious dinner and evening of Folly at Folly.
This was another reason we came today- Movie Night at the Beach! Right?! It was a pinch me moment.
How can we top this? Great friends, summertime weather, cinema and our toes in the sand. Oh and the movie, Creed, was worth watching. Oh man, we're loving Charleston.
"Summer: Hair gets lighter. Skin gets darker.
Water gets warmer. Drinks get colder.
Music gets louder. Nights get longer.
Life gets better."
