A Movie & Meat Pie...

Holiday movies seem to make the season that much more merry. Bob and Jenny shared The Christmas Card with us because we were all just in Nevada City (one of our favorite local places) where this Hallmark movie was filmed.

I recommend this predictable romance. It has all the right elements to make you feel good. What's not to love? A US soldier visits the town from where an inspirational Christmas card was sent to him by a church group that mails cards out to servicemen as a goodwill effort.
Jenny cooked for us her Cornish grandmother's sumptuous recipe for pasties. The traditional Cornish pasty is filled with beef, sliced or diced potato, swede (also known as yellow turnip or rutabaga – referred to in Cornwall as turnip) and onion, seasoned with salt and pepper, and is baked. Oh man, great pre-Christmas celebrating.
