Final Day of Play...

What a visit.  We only had two full days, so we made the ultimate best of it.  Day 2 was a huge success...

We began by touring the Tallac Historic Site, beginning with the Baldwin Estate.  When 'Lucky' Baldwin (a very interesting character) died in 1909, he left his vast Lake Tahoe real estate holdings to his daughter, Anita (center below), who in turn, gave six acres to her daughter, Dextra (on left).  In 1920, at age 19, Dextra ordered construction of her summer house. The architect created a picturesque summer residence that reflected the simple, natural style favored by the wealthy in the 1920s. The house was completed in 1924 and is an outstanding example of rustic architecture.  We are standing in front of one of the small guest cottages she lived in while construction was occurring.
We strolled through all three of the historic estates, with the final destination being The Beacon at Camp Richardson.
Warm sun and cold Rum Runners... a perfect combination.
Our new favorite dish here...Chipotle Shrimp & Hot Link Nachos:
Seared hot links, chipotle shrimp, black bean puree & melted white cheddar, served over warm tortilla chips. Right?
Selected by the editors of Golf Digest as one of the "Best 19th Holes in America", our next stop was Brooks' Bar & Deck, considered the premier post-play watering hole in the state of Nevada.  To sit and gaze at the Lake, while ogling golfers, is a pretty unique experience.
The last stop of the Whirlwind Tour was our local winery for the Chamber's last Business After Hours Mixer (BAHM) of the summer.
Cupcakes by Tahoe Cakes by Grace provided the icing on the cake, so to speak. Yum.
Visiting with friends in the garden-like setting of Picchetti Winery.  Enjoying delicious food and spectacular wines, until the sun set, was a seemingly perfect end to Hazel and Chuck's way too brief Tahoe jaunt.
And the Harvest Moon came out to greet us as we ended our evening together.  It was a magnificent conclusion to our day of play...
