Winter Trek: An incredible opportunity
Today, we spent over four hours being trained for our next volunteer experience: Winter Trek, a 5th Grade Environmental Education Program. This training included traveling to the top of Heavenly (I can't think of a better name for it) which we will get to do every week for the next 2 1/2 months. What an opportunity!
This incredible outdoor school lesson takes place at 9,000 ft elevation at the Heavenly Mountain Resort via a free Gondola ride. Once a week, we will become U.S. Forest Service Ranger Steve and Ranger Denise sharing, with students from California and Nevada, all there is to know about the Lake Tahoe Basin. We will lead the class through the wilderness to learn snowshoe skills and discover winter adapting animals and signs of these animals. Students will fulfill science, language, social science and physical education requirements for their 5th grade curriculum. Unbelievable!

That is incredible. How cool that you get to be a part of it.
You guys seem to be in the right place at the right time to nab great volunteer opportunities. I know you are not getting paid but you are rich with volunteer experiences.
