Me & my new library card...
One of many highlights, thus far, happened today...I was issued a library card. The first South Lake Tahoe branch of the county library was opened in 1948 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wakeman. After many subsequent moves in search of more adequate housing, the current library was constructed in 1983. The 12,000 square foot facility has the unique good fortune to overlook beautiful Lake Tahoe. It is a popular place for locals and tourists alike. Located less than 1/2 mile from our cabin, I am certain we will get great use from its collection.
Once a month, the Friends of the Library meet to read and discuss a wide variety of critically acclaimed books. This sounds like the ideal way for me to spend an afternoon.
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends;
they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors,
and the most patient of teachers.
