Tehachapi for three nights...

We are camped in Tehachapi for the next three nights, along the shore of Brite Lake.  A gentle breeze is blowing and cows are grazing in the distance.  This will be a peaceful place to call home.

This town is known for its four season climate, ingenious train Loop, the author Larry McMurtry, actor Jack Palance, its wind farm, and the womens prison that has been referenced in several movies, including The Maltese Falcon in which Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart) tells his criminal love interest, "Well, if you get a good break, you'll be out of Tehachapi in twenty years and you can come back to me then."

We're here because we have our Italian visa application appointment tomorrow, in Los Angeles, and we want to visit with my dear friend, Leslie who lives here.  It will be a very delightful three days.
