The Kootenai Classic Livestock Show

Coeur d'Alene's Fairgrounds seems to have something fun happening all summer long. To marvel at kids showing off their animals was a great way to spend our morning (excluding the muck on our shoes).

This Classic was started in 2010 with the simple idea of providing local 4-H steer members an opportunity of more experience in the ring before their county fair in August.
It remained just a cattle show until 2018, when a team of volunteers noticed a need for more swine, sheep, and goat shows in the Northern Idaho/Eastern Washington area. The show became a non-profit, elected a board of directors, and officially became known as the Kootenai Classic Livestock Show.
I am so glad they added the swine category as I love pigs.

The Hog Showmanship was hysterical to watch. What fun.

The next competition was the wether lambs. dam ewes, goats and dam does. While I have no idea what these designations mean, we loved seeing these earnest competitors.

Sadly, the cows are being shown on Sunday and we have other plans.
Thankfully, there were plenty beautiful bovine to ogle anyway.

“The 4-H Clubs believe in and practice the full development of our talents.
They believe in physical and mental health.
Beyond this there is an underlying creed of honesty of purpose.
These objectives and practical projects
make the 4-H Clubs a tremendous influence
for the betterment of our country.”
