The World’s Last Blockbuster Airbnb

Last month, one of the highlights of our visit to Bend, Oregon was a stop at the World's Last Blockbuster which next month will be offered on airbnb.

Oh man, we're two months too late but I would have so spent the $4 a night to live in the space full of nostalgic decor from an era when we actually had to leave the house to rent a movie (and where we spent a lot of time when our boys were growing up).

It is predicted that this will be the most coveted airbnb listing next month (probably the most coveted since Downton Abbey was listed last year). Who wouldn't want to sleep in the only functional Blockbuster left anywhere in the world?

Looking like a living room straight out of a ’90s sitcom, the space has been lovingly transformed to showcase design touches that evoke nostalgia for a time when movies were physical things that you rented from a brick-and-mortar location. That means beanbag chairs, a pullout couch with zany sheets, and a rug with wacky, busy, and bright patterns. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Blockbuster night without a bulky, big-screen TV hooked up to a working VCR. Guests will have complete control over the space once they get the keys, giving them access to enough classic movies to watch until sunrise, plus all the snacks they can handle.

For three nights in September, groups of up to four lucky, local residents will spend a night at this monument to ’90's nostalgia, tailor-made for the ultimate movie marathon sleepover. Oh man, I totally know what would be in my viewing queue! So jealous and so happy to have been there.

Did you say it was going to be only $4 a night to stay there?
