Home Sweet Home...

After 27 days, numerous National Parks, a gazillion photo opportunities, and untold unforgettable memories, we are HOME.

Steve's truck has the wonderful feature of being able to track all the stats regarding each road trip. So, looking at this image, we traversed 3,157.2 miles of American countryside. We spent almost 91 hours in the truck to accomplish that driving feat while using up 280 gallons of fuel. WOW. Thankfully, once we left California, the price of diesel was around $2 a gallon so it was less costly than it could have been if we'd stayed closer to home.

We ran away on July 12th with the goal of experiencing nature and disconnecting from the news of the world including the virus that lingers. Our trip was a huge success. That's not to say we didn't have some concerns, as many other escapees had the same ideas and places were crowded. We did our best to stay safe and had an exceptional adventure. Did I mention we dug for fossils in Washington and connected with old friends in Idaho? Oh man, so many highlights!

A huge, successful component is the fact that I experienced the entire 3,000+ miles of riding in the truck without negatively impacting my neck, a worry that was totally not necessary.

So now we are home, in our little cabin in the woods, delighting in just being... at least for now. Thanks for traveling along with us. It's always more fun when you have friends there with you... even if it's just virtually.

“It’s a funny thing coming home.
Nothing changes.
Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same.
You realized what’s changed is you.”
-F. Scott Fitzgerald
