WWII Vet Turns 96...
There are heroes amongst us and when we learn of them we need to celebrate them. How fortunate are we to have been a small part of Danny Francisco's 96th birthday bash!
Seven days after graduating high school in 1943, Mr. Francisco was drafted. He served his country in World War II by flying 50 missions as a B-17 tail gunner when he was just 18 years old. Oh man, so worth celebrating.
An appreciative South Lake Tahoe community gathered flags and orchestrated a honking, cheering parade through his neighborhood. I hope he felt the love. I got so very emotional. I appreciate our veterans so very much.
Next year, I hope we can have a party where we can all attend. We'll give this hero the birthday he deserves! It's on my calendar.
"Our veterans accepted the responsibility to defend America
and uphold our values when duty called."
