Washoe Meadows State Park...

It's hard to believe this is our ninth summer here and our first explore of this least populated State Park in the Sierra State Parks system.

Washoe Meadows State Park, located on the outskirts of South Lake Tahoe, is a 620 acre completely undeveloped park.  Its use—even its whereabouts—is virtually unknown except by local walkers, runners and Nordic skiers. Thanks to Karen and Stephen, we now have yet another awesome locale in which to explore nature. WOW.

The meadow's trail system (2 to 4 miles round trip) is not way-marked so at times Steve got out his smartphone to help us stay oriented. It was exciting to get lost with old friends in a new place.

I captured this little guy in the midst of a beautiful song.

I am a slow meanderer. Everyone quickly bypassed this puddle, which I discovered teeming with life. Check out the tadpoles. A plethora of frogs will be found there soon!
Also lurking was this ribbon of a snake. Can you see his yellow stripes and red triangles? So very cool. I suspect tadpoles are tasty for him.
When Steve and I planned our northern migration back to Lake Tahoe, we worried about how our summer would unfold. With all our traditional activities canceled, what would fill our long days? After our last few forays into nature, we are more excited than we ever thought possible, to embrace this unique time in our lives. We 💚 Summer in Tahoe! It's going to be absolutely amazing!

if I didn’t photograph them.”
