Van Sickle Trail... A Hike in the City

The Van Sickle Trail is unique in its location within the Basin’s largest urban area. Within a few minutes’ walk from the casino core, it is possible to enjoy a high-quality natural experience with incredible views of the lake.

Gwen and Linda followed us here as neither of them had been here before. This is one of our favorite hikes. This strategic location immediately transitions from the dense urban context to a natural setting and a place we plan to explore all summer.
This unique park, which was created by the Nevada Division of State Parks and the California Tahoe Conservancy, is the only bi-state park in our nation with a common entrance and it is located on the historic Van Sickle Crescent V Ranch (c. 1860s).

Can you see this trails allure? Yes, we'll be back often.

"Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit,
and as vital to our lives as water and good bread."
