Terrific Tenerife...
Today, we visited our second Canary Island.
As we headed into the town of Santa Cruz, we were greeted by many plaques, like this one about Agatha Christie. Each person depicted came to Tenerife, stayed for a time, and was inspired by its beauty. It made us even more excited.
All islands have a Plaza de Espana. Each more beautiful than the last.
Wanting to explore a more historical part of the city, we boarded a trolley and for 1,35€ each, we were whisked to La Laguna, the former Capitol of the island. How amazing to wander about in the 16th century.
Ancient churches continue to awe us.
This hoof was next to Steve while he had an espresso. There's just something so funny, and so not American, about this image.
Every roof was like a garden, where a succulent grew randomly.
This gorgeous plant was growing in the crook of a tree branch.
We stumbled upon the market and delighted in its history, sights, and smells.
At the end of the day, we found ourselves at the Oreo Festival. What! That's right, my favorite childhood cookie celebrated.
I loved this. They had crafts for kids where they took empty Oreo boxes and turned them into books. So up my alley!
I don't have time to explain all the photos but I hope they give you a glimpse of the history, grandeur and excitement this town offered us. We are loving our European adventure.

Is there some connection with the town and Oreos? It seems so random otherwise!
I love Agatha Christie and Oreo cookies too! How perfect! looks like it is a little chilly there. I love all the small details!
Recapping two days. Love: the stone faces, Oreo book covers, keyhole, plant in tree crook, blue buildings. Weirder things: toasting with a hoof, some market food, deserted street. I'm tracking the weather by seeing if Steve is in his "infraditi".
So, you found some empty streets! Not a very crowded day, or was everyone eating Oreos?
Keep on cruising on!
