Gran Canaria: Cruise Day 9

The third and final stop on our Canary Island tour was a day of history, exploration and a whole lot of fun.

We boarded a city bus and found ourselves in the heart of the historic Vegueta Quarter.
This is a barrio famous for a visit by Christopher Columbus. How appropriate that their church would be decorated with sailing vessels.
We loved the modern mixed with the old. This part of the island was very cool.

A must was the Santa Ana Cathedral the first artistic construction, in the Canaries. It was begun after the Island was conquered by Catholics in 1478. The church was build over a 500 year period. Very interesting indeed.

This is the Governor's House in which Columbus stayed in 1492 on one of his voyages (they think).
I got to love on Spanish mail today. So fun.
Around every corner, we discovered something of interest and/or beauty. Tomorrow we are at sea for the day. We continue to enjoy all this cruise has to offer. We're happy you're on board with us.

Wow, such beautiful images. Looks like you are making the most of every second of being in port. I would expect nothing less!

It feels like we were just there yesterday, but it’s almost been a year! Eric and I had coffee where those beige umbrellas are, to the right of you and Steve and the cathedral! Coffee and cake to be exact. :)
We talk about the Canary Islands fondly and often. We can’t wait to go back! But in the meantime, enjoy YOUR travels!
How cool is it that all of those gorgeous sites are within walking distance from each other?
Love it.
