The Fantasticks at Sand Harbor...
Ever since moving to Tahoe, we have wanted to see a production here. Imagine your toes in the sand, a fantastic bottle of wine nearby, a gourmet meal in hand and first-class entertainment before you… all while basking in a perfect Lake Tahoe sunset with your friends and family. You’re not dreaming, you’re experiencing the enchantment of Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival at Sand Harbor State Park. That is a totally accurate description of the night.
Knowing that I would not get Steve to a Shakespeare play, we chose the World's longest running musical as our first foray into Sand Harbor. What a charming and romantic production about one young couple, two “feuding” fathers and an infinite love that transcends over time. The Fantasticks whimsically whisks audiences on a journey of imagination into a world of moonlight, magic and memory. Along the way, love is found, lost and rediscovered again after a poignant realization that “without a hurt, the heart is hollow.”
The magic of this night will be one we will forever remember...
Try to remember when life was so tender
That no one wept except the willow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
That dreams were kept beside your pillow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
That love was an ember about to billow.
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow.
