Print Club at Bona Fide Books...

On the third Monday of the month, Bona Fide Books is the place where you'll find me for the Print Club.

Join lovers of print and ink for an evening of creating cool art. We're making prints and cards on an antique book press and an etching press. We meet the third Monday of each month. Bring your own supplies or $10
Kim is a conduit of literacy and the arts in our community.  Can you see how happy she is with her new press?
For my first ever printmaking, I started off with an easy toad.  Step 1: Trace the image.
Step 2:  Transfer the image onto the stamping material to be carved.  Step 3: Spend the next hour carving and hoping you get it right.
Step 4:  Ink the image.
Step 5:  Print your image to make certain it's worthy to show anyone. I thought he came out pretty well, for my first attempt.
There were about a dozen of us working in this incredible space. Neat music, wine, and enthusiastic others made the night complete.
All of us were of various skill levels which was encouraging.
In addition, Kim brought in John, an amazing printmaker.  He shared with us the most fantastic portfolio, explaining the various types of print art.  This was incredibly interesting, giving us all inspiration to do more with a print press.  This really was a great experience and everyone at home seemed impressed with my toad.  Who knew?
