Bob Makes Pear Cider... YUM

Several years ago, as the senior project for his Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Arts (BAIA), Bob created this very awesome Cider Press. The designs came from an antique press he saw at a museum and constructed completely from scratch.

Before the advent of the pop bottle and urban sprawl, just about every farm had a cider press. These machines were lovingly built by highly skilled craftsmen (an apt description of Bob) called coopers, who also constructed the casks and barrels in which families stored flour, sugar, corn, water, beer, pickles, nails and many other commodities.
Bob is one of the most talented people we know and he generously shares the 'fruit of his labor'.  On a warm afternoon, there is nothing better than a glass of his cool cider!  YUM indeed.

I didn't realize he machined all of the metal parts as well. Isn't he amazing?!

Love it! Pear juice is delicious. My juicer will do the same, but it looks like more fun to do it the old fashion way!
