The Village People in Tahoe...

Since 1978, we have been boogieing to sounds of this unique ensemble so needless-to-say, when we won tickets we were pretty excited to see the Village People- live.

The night was a dance fest!
In 1979, the United States Navy decided to use "In the Navy" in a television and radio recruiting campaign.  It is still one of my favorites.
Many fans came in costume which made people watching pretty hilarious.
The evening began with "Macho Man" (clip below) and ended with YMCA.  We were given a lesson on the proper way to move our arms.  The group chooses this iconic song as their finale because they automatically get a standing ovation.  What a fun experience.

I didn't know about the Navy using a Village People song for recruitment. It is surprising since the song is more fun than the Navy would be (false advertising!) AND also because the band is often associated with homosexuals and the Navy is against that (or at least they are not for it). What an interesting advertising campaign.
Looks like you had a great time! AND it also looks like it was not very crowded!
