Hiking the Pyramid Creek Trail...

We awoke to another spectacular Tahoe day so we headed out to the Pyramid Creek Trail for a hike and picnic (eating is always a component on our outings).  The spectacular Horsetail Falls were beckoning, so we marched onward and upward through the canyon.

Steve and I did not make it as far as the falls but we enjoyed getting lost on the massive glacial granite.  The photo with Steve and a stack of rocks is demonstrating how the majority of the trail was marked.  The name Desolation Wilderness seemed to fit since we were the only other hikers visible for hours.

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.
Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn."
– John Muir, conservationist and naturalist (1838 – 1914)

Wow! Those falls are incredible!
I love the sounds of rushing water, it is so powerful. I also love hiking without fellow hikers, very peaceful.
