Music & Illuminations...Magical Québec!

Tonight was spent returning to places we have already visited and had promised to return to.

The first stop was at Morrin Centre for the last show of the Arts Alive! Québec Festival. Musician Bill Vincent, seated with Steve, was the star of the evening but first there was art to ogle.
We had left last night before we could see Patricia Roby's finished artwork, painted as Metò played. How beautiful is this? I'm so happy we had the opportunity to see talented her again.
In addition, vendors were selling various crafts. I got a perfect souvenir, a silver ring by Sásta Creations. What's extra cool is that it was made from a spoon whose pattern is midcentury. Made in 1950,  April was introduced by Wm. Rogers & Son and designed by Edward J. Conroy. With the sunflower, it is just so very me!
Back to Bill Vincent. He has lived and worked in visual arts in Québec City since 1975. He currently works in print, painting, sculpture and multi-media. He has, on display, 20 public projects in government sites and buildings throughout the city. He is also a musician and a Celtic singer. We were definitely here for the Celtic music. Here's a link if you'd like a sample of our enjoyment.

A highlight was our return to Église Saint-Dominique for the Tutti! Concert where La Musique du Royal 22e Régiment and La Musique en Rouge joined Forces to thoroughly impress!

The invitation read, "to offer you a festive evening, putting the talents of reservists from various Reserve Force bands throughout the province in the spotlight. Works by Von Suppé, Shostakovich, Navarro, Gabielli, Goodwin and Marquéz will be on the program. Come admire the virtuosity of their soloists and be dazzled by the power and precision of nearly 60 wind and percussion instrumentalists on the same stage in a grandiose concert!"

This video showcases what  60 wind and percussion instrumentalists in an acoustically marvelous church sounds like. We were so amazed. And even more amazing was the fact that this, too, was free. Québec is a very generous city.

Our third return of the evening was to Cartier Street to see the illuminated Lumière sur l'art, the giant lampshade street lights that adorn it. We were not disappointed by what we saw. Wow.

Just walking home at night felt magical.
Our last stop was back at the Parliament Building. Québec knows how to light things!
Its Tourny Fountain was the pièce de résistanceIs there any better image to express how magical Québec is at night than this one? Pinch me moments abound!
