The Fire and Its Effects

Many have asked about our local fires. Tahoe is surrounded by various burns but thankfully we are safe and grateful for that.

The fire that is impacting us the most is the Tamarack Fire.
What was only 500 acres on Friday is now over 39,000 acres. This lightning caused event is spreading quickly due to winds.
The winds keep changing and on some days, it looks like our air quality is going to be unhealthy. With that prediction, we sadly postponed the arrival of some long planned houseguests.
Today we awoke with the promise of beautiful weather, with little impact from the wildfire. Each day is filled with uncertainty for us, as to weather we should stay or leave, due to the air quality. That said, we are safe!
I am certainly not complaining when I think of all those who have lost so much and all the firefighter heroes battling it all. The smoke does make for a beautiful sunset.
