Butterflies, Flowers & Friends...

𝅘𝅥𝅮 These are a few of my favorite things 𝅘𝅥𝅮

We weren't here just to delight in nature. Lynn, Don, Jenny, Bob, and I were here to actually count butterflies.

The North American Butterfly Association has run the Butterfly Count Program in the United States, Canada, and Mexico since 1993. Each of the approximately 450 counts consists of a compilation of all butterflies observed at sites within a 15-mile diameter count circle in a one-day period. The annually published reports provide a tremendous amount of information about the geographical distribution and relative population sizes of the species counted. Comparisons of the results across years can be used to monitor changes in butterfly populations and study the effects of weather and habitat change on North American butterflies.

What gorgeous, fluttering displays of colors!

Look! I'm hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail.

Even flowers, sans butterflies, delighted.

I was easily distracted by other unique critters, too.

This ominous looking beast was over an inch long but had no interest in me.

Don't you just love frogs? This little guy measured less than an inch. Darling!

What a day! Meandering in nature, being with friends, and helping the butterflies. This is why we chose Tahoe ten summers ago! I'm loving it even more!
