Exploring Bodega Head...

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said it best, “My soul is full of longing for the secret of the sea, and the heart of the great ocean sends a thrilling pulse through me.”

Jutting out into the Pacific Ocean, the small rocky peninsula known as Bodega Head offers stunning bluff top vistas, enticing trails, beach access, and abundant wildlife viewing, from seabirds to seals and migrating whales.
Only about four miles long and one mile wide, Bodega Head shelters the bay and harbor from the power of the Pacific Ocean. Composed of rugged granite, the Head is a bit off of the main coastal route, making it a delightful place to explore along the Sonoma County coast.
Most of these photos demand no explanation. Everything was exciting to see. The 30 knot gusts were an exhilarating addition to our hike.

This special place, installed by the Bodega Bay Auxiliary for Fisheries, is a tribute to those who make a living by the sea and is a memorial to those who have lost their lives to it.

All along the trail is informational signage. I love that!

“Life is a sea of vibrant color. Jump in.”
