Books, Bells, Beer & Beyond...

So where have I been? It has been a crazy few days upon returning from Death Valley. Our oldest and his family arrived, and it was non stop fun. Here is a brief synopsis of some of the festivities.

While the guys went shooting, the gals went shopping. Douglas County Friends of the Library hosted a book sale in this cool, historic building located in Minden, Nevada. It was constructed in 1912 as a meeting hall for the Carson Valley Improvement Club (I have always wanted to explore it).
One has to love books in bulk and at bargain prices!
While meandering around Minden, I discovered this wonderful string of art.
As it turns out, this is a really awesome project happening in Douglas County. Ring in Kindness is a free activity for anyone in the community to join. It includes making art from clay, painting, and stringing clay art and bells. Once there are enough bells made, a group of people go out in the community and place the bells in random locations for people to find, keep or pass on to someone else. Ring In Kindness’ mission is to bring people together and inspire kindness. Once my crazy schedule calms, I plan to attend a workshop to make these little works of kindness.
We thought we'd go to the new South Lake Brewing Company and get some liquid kindness. The place was happening. What a cool spot in which to hang.

We took many walks around the neighborhood over the days they were here. Nature abounded.

We even witnessed a spectacular sunset over a recently snow dusted Mt. Tallac.
No one can say that the scenery in Tahoe isn't diverse. While I love Christmas lights, seeing them before Thanksgiving just isn't right. Christmas will be here in no time but for now I'm going to delight in the last few days of family time.

Oh, so agree on the Christmas lights before Thanksgiving. I'm struggling with getting a tree the day after. Seems so soon!
