T.J. Maxx opens in Tahoe...

In rural South Lake Tahoe, a store opening, like T.J. Maxx, brings out the crowd.  Steve and I were there for the 8 AM ribbon cutting and free shopping bags.  Last December, it was announced that the store would be opening in the spring... better late than never.  During the opening ceremony, the TJX Foundation donated $5,000 dollars to Live Violence Free, a program that provides help to disadvantaged women and children here in Tahoe.  How cool is that?

Interestingly, this new store is located in the old Miller's Outpost, a favorite place we shopped at on many a Tahoe vacation.  It brought back memories.  I found a very classic 1980s television ad for Miller's that really shows the fashions we're all embarrassed we wore.

This new store was well stocked and the staff was enthusiastic and very helpful.  History, in its own way, was made today!

That IS quite the crowd gathering. Good thing they didn't do the grand opening on Black Friday or there would have been a riot! ;)

Wow that seems like huge event for that little area! Nice to have a big store like that I bet!
