Amazing art on an amazing day...
After meeting the Mayor, Gilberto took us on a tour of the Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive. To tour it with us, just click on the name. It is an amazing place with a collection rich in diversity from Alexander Calder to Sol Lewitt and some incredible Italians in between: Burri, Pomodoro, Leoncillo and Turcato.
I took a liking to Calder's work. Teodelapio (1962), a steel plate and painted monumental stabile greets all who come to Spoleto by train. I didn't fully appreciate this piece until I read more about the artist. How can you not love the man who invented the "mobile"?
The enormous black and white work behind me in the second photo is by famous Italian graffiti artists (talented ones) Sten & Lex. I have attached a video to try to express the uniqueness of their craft.
The Palazzo Collicola (1717) itself is a treasure... opulent and grand. Truly a spectacular building to house such a collection.

It must not be just a fleeting moment
but a physical bond between the varying events in life.
