A walk above town...
La Strada Pedonale Panoramica is a winding path above Spoleto that has been walked for centuries. It offers amazing views and trails that branch off from it for miles. In ancient pagan times, this area was a bosco sacro. Even St. Francis walked amongst the sacred woods here.
Michelangelo wrote, "I have had the great pleasure of the mountains of Spoleto and have visited those hermitages, and I now return to Rome as only half a man, as it is only within those woods that one can find peace."
There are trails of varying lengths from hours to days long. We are eager to explore and experience what those before us have. Just another reason to love Spoleto!
