Happy Birthday Steve!

And what a Buon Compleanno it was!  After a final day of paperwork and running around town, we celebrated Steve's birthday... Italian style.

Aperitivi were followed by a spectacular dinner at Ristorante Sabatini on one of the main corso in Spoleto.  We dined on some of the most delicious food, thus far.  The gnocchi were potato sunshine.  The entire dining experience was exceptional.

A evening at the cinema followed, with a newly release movie, Bevenuti al Sud.
While it was high speed Italian, with a lot of Napoli dialect, we enjoyed it completely.  What we didn't understand we got by the reaction of the audience.  We found ourselves laughing more than we had in a very long time.  The theater, itself, was old school.  We sat in the balcony and if you wanted popcorn, it was microwaveable and you had to prepare it yourself.

The stroll home, through the deserted streets, made Steve's birthday magical for both of us!

Hi both of you.....Looks like you had your favorite meals on Steve's birthday.....the salad and gnoki (sp.?). Is it made the same way as in the US ?

The gnocchi would have been my first choice...they look GOOD! And the portion isn't huge (another thing I love about Italy), which is nice because gocchi is rich.
Glad you had a fun birthday Steve!!
(I am turning 30 this year too!) :)
