Check Out a CA State Pass at Your Library

Did you know that you can now check out a FREE vehicle day-use pass at your local public library for entry to over 200 participating state park units operated by State Parks to library-card holders?

Each library location will receive passes, including mobile libraries, for checkout by library patrons. Patrons will be able to check out the pass for the allotted number of days allowed by the local library. Check with your library for guidelines and policies for returning your pass.

Research shows that spending time in the outdoors is associated with better mental and physical health, and that many Californians face barriers to accessing their parks, CA State Parks said in a news release (that's because the passes are very expensive).

“California has a wealth of state parks, and many public libraries are likely within driving distance of one,” the release states. “By reducing barriers to park access and partnering with entities such as public libraries, the state can help more Californians explore the outdoors and generate positive impacts in the area of health, natural resource stewardship, and historical and cultural connections.”

I can't wait! For more information, read all about it here.

Well that is great news! So excited. We buy a CA parks pass some years but, unlike the National Park pass, not every year. How can a state pass be more expensive than a national pass?
I want to be the first person to use it in Oceanside. :)
Now stop telling people about it...
