The Christmas Star & Christmas Lights

With the promise of the Christmas Star appearing on our very clear horizon, Steve and I parked ourselves on the front porch. What a magical night!

While eagerly waiting, I witnessed the most amazing shooting star. I NEVER see these events as I'm always looking in the wrong direction. Tonight's was magical and made me very emotional.
I loved that the moon was there just watching it all happen.
This is the best visual we had of Jupiter and Saturn coming together (taken with Steve's cell phone through our binoculars). But it didn't matter.
This amazing photo was taken by Jenny in Tahoe. Notice that she caught Jupiter's moons. Wow.

What I found to be the most important aspect of tonight's search for the Christmas Star was the fact that people all over the world were doing the same thing. We all set aside whatever we were doing to gaze upwardly and hope. Hope for the famous star. Hope for the end of the year. Hope for all goodness to arrive before us.
Nothing says HOLIDAY quite like Christmas lights and when you find an entire street, putting on an Extravaganza, synchronized with music played on your car stereo, you must go! This is our second visit to Bainbridge Circle.
With a wait of over an hour, we probably chose the wrong night to go but it was spectacular none-the-less.

Even Santa was there to greet the children. Pretty magical indeed.

These two brief videos give you an idea of the wonderfulness of this place. How poignant that the first video is playing When You Wish Upon A Star. While the second is synchronized to The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

However you find JOY this holiday season, we hope it is completely wonderful!

Nice binocular shot! So cool to be paralleling with you again (though I wish it was together!) In my photo, there is a fourth moon below Jupiter (cropped out). So funny that I thought Jupiter's moons were artifacts from my unsteady camera or from the street light, when they turned out to be a very special part of the photo! A shooting star is exhilarating and a symbol of hope. Very cool!
