Sugarplum Farm Zoo...

In April, while on a drive through Temecula's Wine Country, we discovered the Sugarplum Farm Zoo. We finally had the chance to visit. I loved this little neighborhood animal oasis.

Sugarplum Zoo is dedicated to providing the highest quality, professional, educational and beautiful animal attraction and interaction with an emphasis on safety and enjoyment for both guests and animals.

What fun to leisurely love on the llamas.

This cool place is also a therapy zoo where the owners host special needs groups. Their dwarf horse, Odette, is Pet Partner certified. She even goes into hospitals once a week to help patients.

There is an interesting mix of the domestic and the exotic.
The zoo is home to Zeus the Camel that kisses.
And a water buffalo who's gentle enough to hug.
This might have been our first zebra-donkey petting. A zeedonk (also known a zebrass, zebronkey, zonkey, zebadonk, zenkey or deebra) is an interspecies cross between a zebra and a donkey.
I know it was the first opportunity I've had to love on an actual zebra. What fun.

We actually got to hang in the chicken coop with some of the most unique chickens. The turkey was pretty unique, too.

This is Daisy, the pig, asleep in her home. On a cooler day, she wanders about acting as the zoo's tour guide. Today, she merely snored, announcing her presence. We look forward to returning on another day, when the temperatures are cool enough for the animals to really strut their stuff. Next time.

I thoroughly enjoy playing tourist in my own town, no matter what town I'm currently in.
