Lilac Fire (Bonsall) Information...

While traveling, we've been sort of in a news bubble and it wasn't until we got close to the SoCal fires that we realized just how bad it all was.

This photo was taken by Eric with the comment, "I took this picture on Dec.7, the first day of the Lilac Fire. At this point the fire was only a few hundred acres, but the Santa Ana winds were blowing the smoke over Oceanside."
Seven states sent their firefighters in for reinforcements. While standing at the shore, this truck drove up from Boise, Idaho. They were beyond excited to see the Pacific Ocean for the first time, after having battled the blaze. The brush fire sparked Thursday morning in an area of dry, heavy brush near State Route 76 and Interstate 15 in Bonsall, a community in San Diego's North County. Today, the blaze was 80 percent contained and holding at 4,100 acres, according to Cal Fire.

Eric loves his Samsung camera phone. That’s for sure. He takes some pretty great pictures with it!
I can’t believe that the Idaho fire engine pulled up while we were there. Nor that they asked as to capture the event on their phones. What an interesting twist on that weather travesty.
