Bird Lessons at the SLT Library...

The Friends of the Library continues to provide informative and very interesting programming for our community. Tonight's was awesome.

The Tahoe Big Year 2018:  Interested in nature, discovery, exploring outside, and a bit of a challenge? Birdwatching may be a perfect fit for you! Sarah Hockensmith, of the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science, introduced 40 of us to this year-long birding event that celebrates the hundreds of bird species that occupy the Tahoe Region, and brings together birding beginners and enthusiasts alike.
She shared many things in her presentation: images of the common and unique birds of Lake Tahoe; birding destinations in the Tahoe region; what a bird Big Year is; and how to get involved! It was inspiring and very educational.

“I think the most important quality in a birdwatcher
is a willingness to stand quietly and see what comes.
Our everyday lives obscure a truth about existence -
that at the heart of everything there lies a stillness and a light.”
― Lynn Thomson, Birding with Yeats: A Mother's Memoir
