David & Karen Arrive: Handbells, a Birthday and Winter A-Go-Go
Our day began by gathering David and Karen from the Reno Airport. They are here for three very busy, as tradition dictates, Tahoe days.
We began at the always amazing Tintabulations handbell concert.
The theme was "How the West was Rung" and we delighted in their unique renditions of some favorite songs. One that I was totally impressed by was Firework (Katy Perry). Wow! We were also given kazoos to accompany The Can-Can. It was a fabulous start to the Tahoe adventure.
Our final stop was Cyndi & Steve's for an Italian feast and a celebration of Casey's #55.
The evening concluded in the much anticipated watching of Winter A-Go-Go (1965). Made in Tahoe, this vintage flick really is a must see and bears a title that could only have appeared in the 1960s. The Columbia Pictures release arrived mid-decade, as one of the spin-offs of the popular "Beach Party" genre of youth musicals. It's promotional line was "Ski Buffs and Ski Babes on the Go-Go in the Snow-Snow!" We all agreed that it was worth watching, if not for making fun of it, but for being together as a big group of friends, gathered on a perfect summer night!
