A Paradigm Shift in Sacramento

par·a·digm shift
(noun)
a fundamental change in approach or underlying assumptions.
While in Sacramento, we visited a new little family which consisted of N, T and three month old, V. Our contribution to the meal was a bottle of Witch Creek wine titled Paradigm Shift. As the wine flowed the irony of that choice fell upon us all.
Important to know is that I have known N since he was about 10. Four years ago, almost to the day, while we were living in Spoleto, Italy, he came to our little village to work on our friends' farm. While he was staying with us, I constantly pressured him to propose, in this most magical of locales, to his then girlfriend, T. Needless-to-say, he resisted and, most likely, resented my prodding.
While in Italy, T joined N and stayed with us in our apartment for an Italian sojourn. Steve and I fell in love with this sweet couple and since I was a mom who needed someone close at hand to worry about, I worried that N would not be ready for marriage for a long time, if ever.

Fast forward to now. Sitting on the patio of N and T's darling home, while the full moon rose, we delighted in reminiscing about our time in Italy together. T cuddled the most precious baby girl. N held her when she fussed and both gazed at one another as happily married couples do.
Pliny the Elder said, In vino veritas, "in wine there is truth". How gladdened we were to learn of this truth. A paradigm shift had occurred. My assumption was that N would never be ready for such a commitment yet he changed his approach to their relationship by proposing and making a family. And what a family it is and how happy we are to be a part of it. Salute!

Yep, you chose the perfect bottle of wine to go with the event! I am glad you had time with the cute baby and the new parents.
