Hiking & Hot Springs...

Wanting to be Muir-like and get out in nature, we embarked on the Lower Rock Creek Trail, voted #62 of 227 trails in Inyo National Forest. Our goal was to be near water and this met that goal.

The view this trail afforded us was of a narrow, incised canyon cut by the creek. The trail contained old growth Jeffrey Pine and clusters of rhyolitic volcanic columns, similar to those at Devil's Postpile... awesome discoveries.

Leslie had read of the hot springs, just outside of town. The site first had historical significance since its geothermal spring water was used for medicinal and healing purposes. This traditional use stretches back hundreds of years and seemed to be the perfect spot to soak and reflect on our time together.

Hiking, dining well, thrift store shopping, catching up, soaking and just enjoying each other's company- I would say our time in Bishop was a huge success.
"Another glorious Sierra day in which one seems to be dissolved
and absorbed and sent pulsing onward we know not where.
Life seems neither long nor short,
and we take no more heed to save time or make haste
than do the trees and stars. This is true freedom,
a good practical sort of immortality."
-John Muir
