Our Measles Vaccine Day...

With the recent outbreak of measles making the news and an upcoming visit to Disneyland scheduled, Steve and I got our Measles Mumps and Rubella vaccines.

According to the Center for Disease Control, from January 1 to February 6, 2015, 121 people from 17 states got the measles. Most of these cases [103 cases (85%)] are part of a large, ongoing multi-state outbreak linked to the "Happiest Place on Earth".
I did my research and it turns out, generally, anyone born after 1956 should get at least one dose of the MMR vaccine, unless they can show that they have either been vaccinated or had all three of the diseases. Interestingly, most people born in or before 1956 were infected with measles, mumps and rubella in childhood and are presumed to be immune.
The CDC offers a simple, informative vaccine quiz that I hope everyone takes. Consider this a public service announcement, not just for those going to Disneyland but for all of us of a certain age.
