After dinner with our friends, Dick & Joan, we headed to the high school for an evening of incredible entertainment with Presidio Brass.

This San Diego-based quintet entertained a theater full of music enthusiasts with the evening's theme being "Sounds of the Cinema". You know it's going to be an incredible show when Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra (the theme song from 2001: A Space Odyssey) is the opening number. We were hooked. |

I have never been so close to a tubist before and I was mesmerized by Scott Sutherland. |

This is what sold us on tonight: "Presidio Brass is a dynamic force in American brass chamber music.
With a unique and exciting repertoire written specifically for the
ensemble, Presidio Brass is committed to providing engaging musical
programs as well as developing close ties to their audiences." This concert is the culmination of their week in Tahoe. They performed for more than 5,000 K-12 students, on ten different campuses, as part of Tahoe Arts Project’s annual performing arts in the
schools program. How totally cool is that?

Several pieces got me, 'Moon River', 'I Feel Pretty', but the song that seemed to wake up a recognition was Gershwin's 'An American in Paris', a magical piece that evokes life in the City of Light! |
