A Tahoe Tradition...
We were first told by our neighbor, Carolyn, that a day trip to Sorensen's for their Beef Burgundy Stew, followed by leaf peeping, was an important fall tradition for anyone living in Tahoe.
Today, along with Carolyn's family and friends, we embraced the tradition and headed to Hope Valley. We delighted in the interesting company, the warm service and the delicious meal. Afterwards, it was not difficult to understand this autumnal ritual. The leaves are still in the process of changing colors, which warrants another return to this quaint resort high in the Sierra.
Hope Valley, in of itself, is a destination worthy of many visits. Rich in beauty and history, it was members of the Mormon Battalion, returning from the Mexican-American War of 1846-1847, that named the lovely valley in 1848.
