"Hot August Nights" on a hot August Day!

In 1986, the aim of Hot August Nights was to fill a void in tourism in Reno during the month of August and to celebrate America's love affair with cars and Rock & Roll.  Sometime, over the last 26 years the organizers made the first stop on the tour the South Lake Tahoe Experience, just minutes from our house.

While the sound of live 50's music played, Steve and I ogled all the showcased cars.  I have a soft spot for vintage anything, especially classic automobiles.

The first photo is nostalgic for me.  This is the same car I had in college, a yellow VW Thing.  The last picture is an old photo of me with our 1955 Olds 98.  It was one of those things we saw on a trip and just had to have... our most expensive souvenir yet!

There was so much pride, talent and dedication on display at this show.  What a true 'flash back'.  Recognized as the largest classic car and nostalgia festival in the country, Hot August Nights helped us celebrate a simpler time, if only for an afternoon.
