Getting to know our community...
On the first Wednesday of each month, Kimberly Kuntz, the publisher of our local paper, The Tahoe Daily Tribune, hosts a meet and greet. When we learned of this, Steve and I thought it would be a great way to learn more about South Lake Tahoe.
Not only did we discover the 'ins and outs' of newspapers, which I found incredibly interesting, we met several intriguing locals, as well. Joan and Dick are very active members of The Tahoe Historical Society, a group of which we are very eager to join. The old adage, "It's not what you know, but who you know" seems to be true in our little community.
We were also introduced to Julie and Kristi from the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, a very important organization keeping Tahoe amazing. The mission: "The TRPA cooperatively leads the effort to preserve, restore and enhance the unique natural and human environment of the Lake Tahoe region now and in the future." These women are a part of a fantastic team and we are happy to learn they are here to protect, as Mark Twain said upon first viewing, "the fairest picture the whole world affords."
As we waited for the ice to thaw on our windshield yesterday morning, we had no idea what Coffee with the Publisher held for us. As with most things, we were pleasantly surprised and so delighted we went.
