Wordle in ONE: A First
It has been over four years since I discovered the wonderful online game of WORDLE. Today was my very first time, in playing at least 1,400 times, that I successful guessed the solution in ONE word.
I'm pretty certain most people know of Wordle if not having played themselves. I blogged about it here. At one point our entire family were Wordlers but they slowly quit. The family gaming was replaced a group of friends who tirelessly play with me every morning. It is a special form of camaraderie which I love waking to.
When delving into the mental math of Wordle and how it’s ushering in a sense of community, Smithsonian Magazine quotes psychologist Lee Chambers, as saying “it [Wordle] leads to the release of dopamine, a chemical that causes people to seek out a positive experience again”. “The fact that we are all trying to solve the same puzzle brings us together. There’s both a sense of community in terms of ‘How difficult did people find it this time?’ and a competitive angle in terms of ‘How well did I stack up in finding this word compared to everyone else?’" What's not to love?
