Rescue Roofing to the Rescue

I mentioned that when we returned to our Sierra cabin, there was some minor snow damage and we considered ourselves very fortunate. However, upon further examining, Steve discovered some roof damage.

What Steve discovered was that all our roof's ridge tiles were broken. What is the purpose of roof ridge tiles? A roof ridge is that horizontal line that serves as the intersection of two roof planes. How serious is a missing ridge tile? A missing roof tile can definitely cause a leak in your roof. Even if it doesn't leave a visible gap in your roof's covering, that missing tile creates a break in the roof which the weather can penetrate. Ours, as you can see in the ridge tile Steve is holding had a very visible gap!
Desperate to get this repaired while we are still in Tahoe, numerous local roofers were called. Of the ten Steve reached out to, few responded and the ones that did this type of work declared that they were booked through the end of the year. So he reached farther afield. Jason, at Rescue Roofing (located in the town of Rescue, 70+ miles away) was up for the job.
Steve spoke to him on Tuesday and by Saturday morning he was at our cabin, ready to repair.

We left for the day and when we returned, everything was as it should be. Having a cabin that is subjected to the elements is stressful. It's nice that Steve has one less thing to worry about and we now know a guy (Jason 530-672-0772)! What a great experience.
