October is National Stamp Collecting Month

When I was a child, I collected stamps. Did we all? I love the idea of turning philately into a holiday.

When did this recognition begin? On October 1, 1981, the USPS began its very first National Stamp Collecting Month, a celebration that continues to this day. In announcing the annual celebration, then-Postmaster General William F. Bolger encouraged “employees and customers alike to discover the joy of stamp collecting – the hobby of a lifetime.”

Now I only collect stamps to use for crafting but I still value their uniqueness and am a huge fan of a mailed letter.

Be like a postage stamp.
Stick to one thing until you get there.

The US Postal Museum was one of our favorite places we visited DC in Aug! It was so interesting!
