Independence Day at the Park...

Wanting an easygoing 4th of July, we had a leisurely morning before heading for an afternoon at a local park.

Howarth Park (c. 1955) is known as the "jewel" of Santa Rosa. This 138-acre community park provides endless recreational opportunities with a beautiful lake (c. 1894) for fishing and boating, a softball field, tennis courts, picnic areas, unique playground structures, miles of hiking and jogging trails, and an amusement area featuring a miniature train ride, carousel, animal farm and pony rides. It definitely demands a much longer visit.

Dinner was a traditional barbecue followed by games lakeside.
We even got in a little birding while there. It was a perfect day.

"The United States is the only country with a known birthday.
All the rest began, they know not when,
and grew into power, they know not how...
There is no "Republican," no "Democrat," on the Fourth of July,
all are Americans."
