Changed Plans: Movie Night
We had driven the 60+ miles to get to Sparks, Nevada, for a much anticipated Water Lantern Festival.
We knew something wasn't right when we arrived and saw nothing unpacked.
As we headed home, the weather continued its intenseness.
Instead of just ending our night, we stopped in Carson City to see Mamma Mia! 2. I had been waiting ten years for this sequel.
I loved this review (though I don't fully agree with it), "Where the original film was a sometimes too-faithful adaptation of the 1999 hit Broadway musical of the same name, the new installment is an original work, playing off the story of the first film while inserting some new and extra ridiculous plot points. The result is shameless, joyous escapism arriving at a time when our society genuinely needs it. Unlike the original, no one in the cast seems embarrassed to be in a silly, fluffy musical. This is a movie that refuses to have a deeper moral or meaning, and that’s just fine." This was fun beyond expectations. We both thoroughly enjoyed it.
This was our first time of seeing a film at the über cool Galaxy Theatre at the Fandango Casino. Wow. Not only did it have fun photo ops but it had draft beer.
Steve was a happy movie-goer. Though our evening did not go as planned, we made the best of it and had an incredibly fun Summer night! One just has to be flexible.
