Yosemite Arrival Day 1

To celebrate our #27 Anniversary in a unique way, we headed out for a trip to Yosemite. We arrived via Tioga Pass. At almost 10,000 ft., it is a pretty impressive entrance to a pretty impressive place.

We were greeted by the Meadow Fire, a lightning strike that was going to be a part of our weekend.
Our first introduction to the amazing granite formations was Lembert Dome.

Our home for three nights was Housekeeping Camp, located along a section of the Wild & Scenic Merced River, in the center of Yosemite Valley. It was the ideal location for those of us who like to camp outdoors without the hassle of setting up a tent. Housekeeping Camp features sandy beaches for swimming and sunbathing, plus great views of Yosemite Falls and Half Dome.

Housekeeping Camp is the only Yosemite lodging option that includes a campfire ring, perfect for outdoor cooking.
Our wine/coffee cup came from our friend, Kim, who loves Yosemite. This was a toast to her.

Our sunset, reflected on Half Dome, was a pretty incredible way to conclude our first day in the park.
“Yosemite Valley, to me, is always a sunrise,
a glitter of green and golden wonder
in a vast edifice of stone and space.”
