Our 16.5 Hours in the Alabama Hills...
Confusing to some, the Alabama Hills National Scenic Area is not in the South. It is located halfway between Tahoe and Death Valley (our trip's destination). It is also one of our favorite places to camp. We had to share it with the family.
The Alabama Hills are a formation of rounded rocks and eroded hills set between the jagged peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the geologically complex Inyo Mountains. Both geologic features were shaped by the same uplifting occurring 100 million years ago.
The moonrise put on quite a show. Fun to see the last Supermoon of the year so brilliantly. Wow.
While we were only here briefly, we all had the opportunity to explore and experience a lot of what this special place has to offer. We 🤎 the Alabama Hills.

Sunrise did not disappoint, either.
