The High Speed Train in Spain

This trip will be our happy version of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Today was a full day of trains.

This was our first trip on the AVE Renfe trains which give travelers access to a comprehensive network of city-to-city commuter rail connections throughout Spain. A.V.E. stands for “Alta Velocidad Española”, or “Spanish High Speed” – a befitting name, considering the train's ability to reach top speeds of up to 350km/h (217 mph)! Our train reached 299 km/h (185 mph) which was pretty exciting for us.

We picked up salads at the train station, which proved the best culinary decision we could have made.
Both of us looked like this at various times.
Our final destination for the day was Seville for the evening. After dropping off our luggage, we headed to our home, Ibis Santa Justa. What a fabulous choice.
Dinner was at the rooftop restaurant overlooking the city.

After dinner, we did a walkabout and followed a huge group of people, all in red and white. Turns out Sevilla Fútbol Club was playing Granada in their home stadium (Sevilla won 3-0). While we didn't go to the match, being in amongst it all was pretty thrilling. Tomorrow, we gather our younger son and his family for an extended explore of Spain.
